We are pleased to have been appointed by Langham Homes on this 40 unit site, comprising of apartment buildings and residential houses. Situated close to Hurst Park, the River Thames and Pavilions Heath club, this is a great location for the development.
The superstructure was to be traditional for the residential scheme but with the addition of precast upper floors for increased sound qualities.
The ground floor was suspended precast and the foundations were required to bear below the soft sandy clay on to the gravels below. The depth of the gravel varied and in deeper areas, where deep foundations were not practical or safe to construct, Vibro ground improvement stabilization was used to allow for shallower foundations.
The civil engineering drainage design consisted of the foul water discharging to a main sewer via quite a long pumped and gravity connection into Hurst Lane, due to the relative site and road levels. The surface water was allowed to infiltrate to the upper ground via permeable block paving with integral attenuation storage.
External works hard landscaping civil engineering was to be limited to the properties only with most of the site remaining grassed with many existing trees to the site boundaries.
Site works have now started on this interesting project and more updates will follow.
