There is some amazing history wrapped up in this country estate and Manor House, dating back to 980AD and with a Grade II heritage listing.

The new owners have plans for much improved facilities at the venue and wanted to improve main gate access from the A24 and increase parking area and quality for the customers and visitors.

The Civil Engineering design for the main gate entrance included widening the entrance for coaches and larger vehicles on the main A24 with a feeder lane and improved central reservation for crossing vehicles. It also improved drainage at the site entrance and road.

This included an involved section 278 agreement with the local Highways.

On the site itself, the lower field was used for parking historically but was slightly uneven and mainly grassed, hence not always suitable in the English summer ! The Civil Engineering proposal was to strip the grass and topsoil, improve the subsoil and provide a better quality drainage medium with soakaways and replace the surface with an open reinforced parking geogrid membrane that will be planted and reseeded.

We also carried out various structural inspections of the main feature staircase and walls to the boundary of the estate for maintenance and repairs.

Another interesting project at a lovely location. For more information and photos see our website www.swpeast.co.uk
